Roger Federer the world-renowned Swiss professional tennis player. If there’s one tennis player today who exhibits the stuff that legends are made of, it has to be the current men’s world number one player, Roger Federer of Switzerland. Roger started playing tennis at the age of 8 and he debuted on the ATP tour in 1998 as a wild card entry in Gstaad. Mother is Lynette; Father is Robert; and he has one sister, Diana. He married Mirka Vavrinec, who was also a professional women’s tennis player in 2009. And has four children — two sets of twins — Myla and Charlene born July 23, 2009 and Leo and Lenny born May 6, 2014. 

Federer is a versatile all-court player; his perceived effortlessness has made him highly popular among tennis fans around the world. Also, Federer has been named as the Swiss Sports Personality of the Year a record seven times which is a remarkable event for a sports personality. He is also the only individual to have won the BBC Overseas Sports Personality of the Year award four times. He has won many awards and recognitions over the period of time and few mentions as follows.  

World’s most respected, admired, and trusted personalities- In 2011, on the Reputation Institute’s study of the World’s most respected, admired and trusted personalities, Federer ranked No. 2 just behind Nelson Mandela but ahead of Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Oprah Winfrey. 

Switzerland’s most recognizable personalities- In July 2016, Roger Federer ranked No. 1 in the list for the most recognizable people in Switzerland, surpassing personalities such as Albert Einstein and William Tell.

World’s most marketable sportsperson- In January 2017, Federer named the Most Marketable Sports Person for 2016 by researchers of the London School of Marketing. Federer earned £49.2 million in endorsements and sponsorships. 

Swiss coin- In December 2019, Federer became the first living person to be celebrated on Swiss coins. 

Endorsements- In May 2020 Federer became the first tennis player to reach the top of the Forbes “World’s Highest-Paid Athletes” list. He was endorsed by Japanese clothing company Uniqlo and Swiss companies National Suisse, Credit Suisse, Rolex, Lindt, Sunrise, in 2010, his endorsement by Mercedes-Benz China was extended into a global partnership deal.  

He has also founded the Roger Federer Foundation in 2003 which has invested over 28.5 million in educational programs in Africa and Switzerland, reaching out to 650,000 children. 

Roger Federer is branded and considered as the greatest tennis player of all time, and the greatest athlete of his generation. He has been iconic for tennis as well as helping the community through his Federer Foundation.
